#6: What is Soul? Gabriel knows.

This week we were joined by a guest DJ, Gabriel Caplan, which meant that I was on hand to push buttons and say clever things while he talked sense about soul music. What ensued was a soul superstar party of the mind, where Gladys Knight rubbed shoulders with Maurice White, Johnnie Taylor got everyone a round of cokes from the ice box, and James Brown wowed everyone with his brand new moves.

I'm a Pilgrim - The Soul Stirrers
300 Pounds - Howlin' Wolf
The Happy Song - Otis Redding
Ain't that Loving You (For More Reasons Than One) - Johnnie Taylor
Don't Have to Shop Around - The Mad Lads
The Makings of You - Gladys Knight and the Pips
Serpentine Fire - Earth, Wind, and Fire
All Day Sucker - Stevie Wonder
Good to Your Earhole - Funkadelic
Boogie Man - Jimmy Bryant and Speedy West
Cold Feet - Albert King
Be My Lady - Booker T. and the MG's
Give it Up or Turnit a Loose - James Brown
Three Little Bears - Jimi Hendrix
Darling, Darling, Darling - The Meters
